Re: What Should I get to Update my Computer? Help!
If you really don't want to get a new graphics card, get an aftermarket VGA cooler (like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118117) but really it's better just to get a better card. Best AGP card I can find is a Radeon 4650: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125281 There's also a Radeon 4670 but it's by PowerCooler and I'm not familiar with the brand. Make sure your power supply is adequate.

check the compatability list here at intels site Quote:
c) no d) yes Quote:
ZALMAN VF900 b) it does not support pci-e c) this would be the best supported card imo HIS H385Q512ANP Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X this one would be good too and a far better deal HIS H385F512ANP Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Quote:
SATA is backwards compatable, so even if you buy a drive that is spec'd as SATA II, it will work on the SATA I port on your board but of course it will run at SATA I specs, so performance will be capped all in all thou, as already suggested an upgrade is suggested. the 865 chipset is more then a couple generations behind and all the other upgrades are questionable at best for such a system. for example: a simple atom platform paired with an aging 945 chipset would already be a decent upgrade to your system and outperform it as well. it could be had for under $100.- bucks Intel BOXD945GCLF2 Atom 330 Intel 945GC granted video upgrade would not be an option on this board

Re: What Should I get to Update my Computer? Help!
Thanks for your quick reply but I am still wandering about something
from my current 1280MB to 3GB RAM will it be faster than before? or it will go unused? in case necessary my pf usage under task manager/performance is around 600MB (No Virtual Memory as i personally disabled it) Last edited by johncampbell; 06-27-2009 at 06:11 PM. Reason: already covered |

Re: What Should I get to Update my Computer? Help!
The Gigabyte Radeon HD4650 I mentioned in my earlier post is about the best card you can get with an AGP interface, as far as I know (there is that 4670, but I don't trust PowerCooler).
From 1GB to 3GB you may notice a performance boost since your computer doesn't have to do as much paging. What is your power supply? Brand/Model/Wattage/amps on +12V rail

Re: What Should I get to Update my Computer? Help!
If you are referring to PowerColor, they sells very reliable ATI cards and there support is very good.
