Looking into creating a new gaming pc

I've decided to get a new pc, one that can be used to play high-end games, such as crysis.

My budget lies between €800 and €1200.
I don't really prefer any brands, if it works without problems, it's good for me.
I'll be using several rather heavy programs on this pc, such as 3ds max, valve hammer editor, and games such as crysis.

As for the HDD, i figure a 500GB drive will do for now.
I'm considering that i wait for win7 to be released, or use the beta, but i have win xp from this pc.

The case should be large enough to carry everything, plus additional space if i ever need to add to or upgrade it. It should also be properly cooled. This will be an all included pc, so keyboard, mouse, etc will also be needed.
I already have a screen, so i will only need to make sure it works with the new pc. It's an LCD widescreen with VGA port, i guess i'll need a piece to fit between it and the GPU.

I'm from belgium, and i'm planning on going to a nearby store to order all the parts there, and hopefully, have it be assembled and tested there, to ensure it's working properly, as this is my first true gaming pc, and i don't want to have to pay for a component more than once.

Any ideas?

Note that i tried to do this a year ago, but i didn't get it, this time, i will be getting it.

Re: Looking into creating a new gaming pc

I've picked this:

Case: Coolermaster 690 $59.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16811119137

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P $134.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16813128358

Processor: Intel E8500 Wolfdale $189.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16819115036

Ram: Corsair 4gb (2x2gb) ddr2 1066 $73.00
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16820145214

CPU Cooler: Zalman 9700 $49.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16835118020

Power Supply: Corsair 850TX $149.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...%26Tpk%3D850tx

Video Card: Sapphire HD4870 1 gb $189.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16814102801

Hard Drive: Seagate 640gb $69.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16822148335

DVD Burner: Asus Black $28.99
http://jbrlsr.com/?aid=5336121828&bi...82E16827135186

Blu-ray reader (among other things) $119.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135185

Operating System: Vista Home Premium 32 $99.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116485

I added the blu-ray reader, and i'm going to get 32-bit vista premium, instead of 64-bit.

The case has enough cooling of its own to cool everything, right?

EDIT: Fixed links.

Re: Looking into creating a new gaming pc

Your links don't work.
The CM 690 is a good cooling case. It's the RC690 w/ a window and lights.

I would suggest LG or Lite-On for the DVDRW.
Go with 2X2GB of PC6400 RAM.

The stock HSF will be fine.
The rest looks good.

Re: Looking into creating a new gaming pc

So, all of the following then:

Case: Coolermaster RC690 $79.99

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P $134.99

Processor: Intel E8500 Wolfdale $189.99

Ram: Corsair 4gb (2x2gb) ddr2 800 pc6400 $46.99

CPU Cooler: Zalman 9700 $49.99

Power Supply: Corsair 850TX $149.99

Video Card: Sapphire HD4870 1 gb $189.99

Hard Drive: Seagate 640gb $69.99

DVD Burner: Asus Black $28.99

Blu-ray reader (among other things) $119.99

Operating System: Vista Home Premium 32 $99.99

What do you mean by "HSF", and LG or Lite-on for the DVDRW?

Re: Looking into creating a new gaming pc

HSF= Heatsink/Fan...the one that comes with the E8500 CPU will work fine and save you $49.99 for the Zalman.

LG and Lite-On are brand names of quality DVDRW optical drives. Either brand is a better choice than the Asus.
I would also suggest going with a WD Hdd (Hard Drive). The 640GB Black series has a 32MB Cache (faster) and comes with a 5 yr. warranty.

Seagate has had some recent issues with their drives.
