First Computer Build

Hello. I am new here and I would like to check if "my build" is good. I am leaning towards a gaming computer and play games such as Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty.

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366

CPU:
Intel i7 920

Video Card:
XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

RAM:
OCZ Fatal1ty Dual Channel 4096MB PC10666 DDR3 1333MHz Memory

PSU:
ocz StealthXStream 700w ATX12v/EPS12v

HDD:
SAMSUNG ECOGREEN F2 1TB SERIAL ATA/300 32MB BUFFER HARD DRIVE

Cooler:
Xigmatek Dark Knight-s1283v cpu cooler

My friend is letting me burrow his SwordM tower. I already have a monitor, keyboard, and a mouse. If i am missing something or you feel something needs to be changed I would gladly take your opinions. My budget is no over than $1000.

Re: First Computer Build

I suggest you wait about one or two months if you can .......... the Intel I5 is coming out and they will be a good deal; they have an improved turbo mode for gaming over the I7 920 and should even be alittle cheaper

but other than that ...... the rig looks very good

I would get the Corsair 850-TX instead of that 700 OCZ though

Re: First Computer Build

you should see top end boards for the I5 around $150.00 ish ............. not really a big deal when you think all I7 boards were 3 & $400.00 only 6-8 months ago ..............

Re: First Computer Build

Oh and Corsair 850-TX PSU is a little bit expensive for me. Are there any below $100 PSU that is durable?

Re: First Computer Build

below $100.00 = no

which is another reason to wait another month or two ........ the i5 will save you enough on cpu and motherboard cost you can get the corsair 850-tx without burning your wallet

the power supply is not the place to cut corners! the OCZ 700 had a mediocre performance history with much less power hungry systems then what we are running now .........

smart man ................ the i5's should be out any day ......thats why the i7 cpu's and motherboards are NOW affordable ....... however anyone wanting a $1000.00 system does not need an almost $300.00 cpu ......... the i5's will be darn near as fast and many games actually faster all for about $150.00 -$175.00

Re: First Computer Build

I don't know anything about Xion PSUs. But a 1kW PSU for $100? I wouldn't trust it. What's your system? I'd probably suggest a Corsair 850tx or 1000hx instead.

Re: First Computer Build

I find OCZ power supplies to be loud too. Certainly not the worst in the noise category, but nowhere near the Corsair's. They are virtually silent, can't hear any of mine. The StealthXStream is supposed to be stealthy, but it's not. My father has one in his machine, and I have a GameXStream sitting around gathering dust, they are both too loud for me.
Can't beat Corsair, among quality psu's, for price, performance, and silence.

Re: First Computer Build

Yup. I'm getting the 850tx. 850 watts, 70 amps on the +12 volt rail, 30A +5v, 30A +3.3v, 3A +5VSB, 80+% efficiency, active PFC, OVP/OCP/OPP/UVP/SCP, and only $140. What more can you ask for? (Answer: 1000 watts )
