Looking to upgrade
Well my problem is I have 2 computers. I want to upgrade one of them to run my games better.
Computer 1: Pentium 4 3.0GHz GA-8IPE1000 Rev 4.X Motherboard 2GB DDR 400 Ram 520W PSU AGP 8x GeForce BFG 6800GT OC (The motherboard has an AGP 8X slot, so limited graphics card upgrades) Computer 2: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2GHz ECS RS482-M754 Motherboard 2GB DDR 400 Ram 420W PSU Onboard ATI Xpress 200 (Has a PCI-E 16x slot so upgrading the graphics card will be easier) For the upgrades I will upgrade to a Corsair 650W PSU. And a RAIDMAX SMILODON case. As for graphics upgrades For the AGP one It would be a Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3. For the PCI-E 16x one, for the same price, I would get a Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 . Upgrades for both machines are about the same price. My question is, which system would be best after the upgrades? =/ *I know both these systems are probably overall crappy, but I wanted to get another year out of one of these systems. I only play games from around 2004. WoW, counter-strike: source, hl2 games. Last edited by proagony; 06-18-2009 at 08:54 AM. |

Re: Looking to upgrade
Use the PCIe slot AGP cards are more costly for the same performance and they are a dead end upgrade the PCIe you'll be able to carry forward on the next upgrade.

Re: Looking to upgrade
Yeah, I was thinking that. Is that AMD processor any good?
Also, will that Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com%2FProduct%2FPr...82E16817139005 Work fine with the AMD system? |
