Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

Drop the EVGA Mobo and get and Asus or Gigabyte.
I don't "think" you will need the Logisys adapter with the Corsair PSU.
Personally, I would use the stock HSF.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

I also would ditch the EVGA motherboard in favor of either Gigabyte or Asus. Too many problems to bother with IMHO. When they work well, they work very well, when they don't more headaches than they are worth.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

thanks guys, what motherboard would you go with? As far as the adapter, I'd rather not need it then not have it and have my project delayed 3-4 days. Only 3 bucks. And as far as the CPU cooler, you think the stock fan/heatsink will be enough? I dont plan on doing any overclocking.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

Why the IDE cd/dvd driver? I would go with an sata drive so you dont have to deal with the ribon cable.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

You definitely do not need the Adapter with the Corsair PSU.

Asus P6T or Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P

Use 1333 or 1600 ram.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

why use 1333 or 1600 ram? isn't that slow?

Also If i use the Asus P6T 2 I see only 2 Sata connectors on the Motherboard and I intend to install 2 SATA Hard Drives and a SATA Optical Drive. I see a problem there.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

No, that's really fast. But to be honest, you won't really see much difference in performance between 1066 and 1600. Maybe between 800 and 1600, but you don't really need "fast" RAM--just fast enough to keep up with your CPU.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

The P6T has 8 Sata ports.> http://www.asus.com/Product.aspx?P_ID=QtpKQuERkuYw6trc
6 Gig is plenty 12Gig is overkill.
The i7 series has the memory controller on the CPU not the northbridge so the cpu controls the ram speed OC'd you may get to around 1530 on the i7 920, the only one that will clock faster atm is the EE i7 965.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

Personally, I like that build a lot and it looks good. Let's see what others have to say about this one.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

Looks good the only thing I'll add is that is that it's hard to justify the added cost of the i7 950 from the i7 920 when looking at from a cost/performance ratio.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

I think you should get some proper good thermal paste like some Arctic Silver 5

Arctic Silver 5
$9
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100007

The onboard sound doesn't sound as good as a souncard and since you're spending all this money why not spend another $80

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Retail
$90
after rebate $65
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829132006

You should be able to stabley overclock that CPU to around 3.8ghz no problem and be very stable.

Re: Can I Get An Expert Opinion On This?

@wrench I think your right, but by august when i plan to build this, the price will probly drop another $100

I'm just gonna recycle the Creative X-fi Extreme gamer soundcard i have now.
