Confused Build a top range PC out using some of the bits i have of my old PC and ebay

I has a fairly average PC but would like to upgrade to its full potential, i would like to change the processor or motherboard (or both), i need to keep the RAM, IDE x 4 SATA x 2, i would like to keep PC case but will change if needed.

My main PC needs are for Gaming and Entertainment, usually multi-tasking, i am going to order graphics card and sound card when i have finish my PC

If anyone can help me i will be very gratefull!

My friend recomended x64 Athlon processor,

I have Windows XP Pro SP3, 2GB RAM and 750GB HDD.

Main Memory
