First Build... Parts Compatible? Help
So this is my first build and I have done some research on building computers. I am not sure if all the components i picked out are compatible. This is what I have so far:
Motherboard and CPU $112.98 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.190816 HDD: $69.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136320 RAM: $47.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122 Power Supply: $34.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171028 Case: $39.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119115 DVD Drive: $24.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136152 This is not for gaming and it is a budget system for my parents who just browse the web. Not sure if i need a graphics card or sound card since they are already on the mobo.If you guys could give some advice on how to make this build any better or cheaper without low performance it would be appreciated. I already have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard. I think I will buy windows xp or vista(if xp available then that). Also on the mobo what does this mean for sound and how will i fix it during the build: 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel (Note) Note: To configure 7.1-channel audio, you need connect with the port of HD Audio standard via front panel and enable the multi-channel audio feature through the audio driver. Budget around 400$ Thanks |

Re: First Build... Parts Compatible? Help
I would rather use this Power Supply> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008
For XP 2 gig (2 x 1gig) would be more then enough. For a web surfing/Email rig that case is on the large size would you be interested in a smaller case?> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119193 If you are looking for HD audio then a card would be a better option, for standard 2.1/5.1 (2 to 3 speakers) you will normally use the rear ports on the board, and the front case ports for headphones. The determining factor would be what you're planning to use the audio for the vast majority of these builds only use the minimum audio.
