It will work.
I'd leave out the Zalman CPU cooler and use the savings to go with the E8500. The stock Intel HSF does a very good job.
The DVDRW will work. I prefer LG or Lite-On but the Pioneer is OK.
Newegg prices are hard to beat and the customer service is the best.

Yes I'm sure. The stock HSF will be fine and will even allow some OC'ing.

HSF= Heatsink/Fan
The Mobo you have selected does NOT have a serial connector.

The stock one that comes with the cpu works quite well up to about a 10% overclock.
After that it depends on how high you want go in both OC and cost of the cooler.

The monitor gets hooked to the video card not a serial port.
