Dual or Quad Core

Hey guys i'm planning on building my first desktop... I was thinking of a Intel dual core 3ghz 6mb L2 or a quad core... is it worth the money at this point since pretty much the only games I play are counter strike source and call of duty 4? And is the intel processor mentioned fast enough with 4 gb ram?

Re: Dual or Quad Core

For a gamer, I'd suggest Intel E8500. For a serious multi-tasker I'd suggest a Quad. And on that note, I'd suggest going I7 if yer gonna go quad. The technology isn't quite there yet, but I know two different web designers/graphics artists that are truly singing the praises of I7 build using Vista 64bit.

Re: Dual or Quad Core

For gaming, Dual Core. 4GB RAM will be plenty.

Re: Dual or Quad Core

The price difference of usually about $20 yes it's worth it, the biggest difference is that it will OC higher.

Re: Dual or Quad Core

Dual Core if you're not going to run SLI/Crossfire. E8500.
