Help me put together a gaming pc.

Hello everyone, I need some help finding parts to build a gaming pc. I'm not sure what's good or not or what is compatible.

1. Budget: 500$

2. Brands: Not sure

3. Multitasking: Game, internet, music, programs.

4. Gaming: Haven't played new games.. I'd like the computer to be able to run the latest ones.

5. Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or media encoding? no

6. Overclocking: Probably not.

7. Storage: not sure how much storage would be good. I would need plenty for games and other files.

8. Legacy Support:

9. Operating System: Either is fine. I've always used XP tho.. Not sure which would be better for gaming.

10. Case: I will need a case. maybe one with plenty of space

11. Accessories: none

12. Recycled Components: No

13. Monitor: Already own a monitor

14. Stores:not sure

15. Location: America

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

I'll be honest with you, $500 isnt really much to work with for a gaming pc. Especially when $100 of it goes right to the operatinf system. Any chance of either saving up for a while longer (total of about $800) or buying components a little at a time?

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

If 500$ for a gaming computer is too low I'm sure I'll be able to raise the budget a bit. Would it be possible to build a pc with the current budget i have and upgrade it over time when i have more income?

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

it could be done, but I dont feel its a good option because you would have to buy bottom of the barrel components that may or may not be compatable with upgraded items.
You are in a unique and possibly adventagous situation though. If you assemble a list of what you want to have in the end, you can buy the items when they are on sale and assemble them all in the end!
Take a look at this link and see if anything suits you.

Keep in mind that most of those components can be swapped for different brand if you have any preferences.

What do have that can be used from your current PC?
PCIe Video Card?
Power supply?
CPU?
Drives?
Case?

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

I took a look at the list you linked and I think I like the 800$ build. I'm thinking about buying the build. I don't have any hardware i could use from this pc. It's pretty old and I think I will be giving it to my mother after I build a new one.

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

The $800 build is solid check the prices they change up and down all the time.

Currently the PSU is $70 after MIR and the Video card is 120 after Mir.

You could also save a couple more by using one of these cases> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119104

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

You can also save some money by passing on the CPU cooler for the Intal CPU. The stock HSF's are quite capable.

Re: Help me put together a gaming pc.

The dvd burner on the 800$ build doesn't seem to be sold on newegg anymore. Anyone recommend another one?

You can pretty much take your pick of any highly ranked drive on newegg. I like Liteon and Sony personaly
