Very Important Question Regarding PC Installation
Ok, I have this Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131323 and this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139009 Like my previous mobo, there is a 4slot connection on my mobo that looks like it requires a 4-pin PCI-e connector, however my PSU, unlike my older 500W PSU, doesn't have a connector that's the right size. My PSU has two PCI-e cords and another cord that looks like a PCI-e cord but isn't labeled (the other two are), but it doesn't fit either. On the newegg link, the connector I'm trying to connect to is in the first blown up image (with the USB ports on the left-side) just in front of the two USB ports with blue/purple slot above it. It's white with 4 slots in it. EDIT: I just determined it's the 4pin CPU power connector, which works alongside the 24pin CPU power connector. Apparently my PSU didn't come with it. Do I need that 4pin CPU connector? What do I do? I'm really nervous. Last edited by KoLAddict; 04-01-2009 at 03:44 PM. |

Re: Very Important Question Regarding PC Installation
Hi,
That supply has an 8 pin CPU connector which should come apart in to two 4 pin connectors. If not, just let the extra 4 pins hang over. See this site. Look under resources. http://www.corsair.com/products/tx/default.aspx

Re: Very Important Question Regarding PC Installation
Thanks.
My new question is, my monitor doesn't want to work with the motherboard. It says no input and goes to sleep. When it's not plugged into anything it says to check the cord, so it acknowledges that it's connected, just doesn't want to do anything. I know everything works outside of the motherboard, but when plugged in and on everything lights up and the fans turn on. |

Re: Very Important Question Regarding PC Installation
Yeah. That 8pin PCI-e lookalike split apart into 2 4pins, which I plugged one in.
EDIT: It still doesn't work though. Last edited by KoLAddict; 04-01-2009 at 05:44 PM. |

How do you know it works did you set it up outside the case in a bench test, test them in another PC or test them by some other method? |

Re: Very Important Question Regarding PC Installation
I tested everything with my current PC I have.
As is, the motherboard is installed in the case, and all the parts, from CPU to RAM to PSU, is in the rig I'm using to browse the web and respond to you here (well, the stuff I was responding to you with while trying to fix the thing was done on my parent's computer). |

Re: Very Important Question Regarding PC Installation
Are you building the new one outside the case on the bench?
Set it up using 1 stick of ram, video card, cpu, heat sink and fan, make sure your using the cpu power plug with 2 yellow and 2 black wires. Clear the CMOS, see if you get a Bios screen. What cpu are you using? |
