Re: First time buiding computer, these parts any good?

Omg, Parts on that site are almost double when you factor in the exchange rates..

A Core i7 920 costs 3927 rand, in the US that's 413 bucks.. a GTX 260 costs cost $450 (4300 rand)

Basically almost all parts are double their price..
Very limited options as well.

Better power supply, 600W+

Better GPU, like a 9800GT/GTX, GF GTX 260

Go with a E8500 CPU ( Dual core ) and Asus,GIGABYTE board.

stick with DDR2 memory, Corsair,OCZ are good brands.

FOR OTHER PEOPLE, R9.4 = 1USD, Things on that site seem to be like 1.3-2.0X the price of US dealers..

OP - Is there other sites you could order off? Because those sites prices are way outa whack when it comes down to the USD difference when you calc in the exchange rates.

Do yourself a favor, don't get the i7. The q9650 is just as good and all games right now don't even use 4 cores. So the 9650 will serve you well for the next few years. also if you are getting such good parts why choke the out dated video card? I am not sure on your currency but I will show you one of the best possible systems you can get.

Re: First time buiding computer, these parts any good?

Okay seeing as you are going over, i am gonna give a couple of suggestions here, Chassis is way too much if you are concerned with price, for R400 less you can get this Gigabyte one which is a very good quality chassis.
Once again, the motherboard is awesome that you want, but once again, why so much, if on budget. Rather take some of that bucks, buy 4gb of ram, better HDD (yours will probably be a bit of a bottleneck)
The below is within budget, and allows some space for later upgrades. Totally overclockable, some parts where i would like a few more thousand, but hey...

CPU: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/pro...ducts_id=15301 - R4514
Mobo: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/pro...ducts_id=15703 - R2507
RAM: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/pro...ducts_id=17567 - R1238
PSU: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/pro...ducts_id=12941 - R975
Chassis: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/pro...ducts_id=17971 -R752
HDD: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/pro...ducts_id=16149 – R651
GPU: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/ind...ath=74_224_559 - R3134

TOTAL - R13771
If you want the striker mobo, fine, do it but this will take the above to R16028
