Have a look over these the dual core CPU is cheap enough to make it worth the performance over a single core sempron.

Re: Build version 1 HELP!

Would this have a relatively low power supply?!
I don't want to be having to spend loads on electricity as I am likely to leave this thing when I go on Hols...

Last tiny thing!
Could you please point me in the direction of a friendly WOL tutorial (wake on lan?)

THANK YOU WRENCH97

Re: Build version 1 HELP!

It's as low as you can go nowadays and still have a PC that can run 24/7 and hold up for any period of time, if your going to set up wake on lan and power options it will go into sleep mode, and not use much at all.

For the Wake on Lan and Linux I suggest you post in the Linux forum I'm not very Linux knowledgeable. > http://www.techsupportforum.com/alte...linux-support/

Re: Build version 1 HELP!

O>
Thanks for that!

I only want WOL as I have a dl/ul limit and it would be best to limit my seeding etc. Plus if I could wol I could leave it off during the day etc...

Is a gigabit lan really needed? I was told a 10/100 would be a bottleneck but I dunno?

thnks

Re: Build version 1 HELP!

What's your internet speed? Most won't reach 100Mps(1Gig in 10 seconds) let alone 1Gig per second.

Re: Build version 1 HELP!

yeah but if I want to stream a file to another computer should that not matter?

It's shameful....around 2mbps.
I dnt even receive that atm I only get like 200kbps anyway :(

Any guide to optimize this? I have tried a few but none work for me.

THANKS for continued help!

Re: Build version 1 HELP!

As long as both PC's are gigabit lan it's faster most of the time the wiring/switch/router is the thing that slows it all down.

As for the Internet speed again look at the wiring/router first if it's Copper DSL then your distance from the phone companies switch makes a big difference, if cable on copper have the cable company change the fittings outside the house and work your way in to the modem.
