What CPU should I buy?

I have a K9AGM3 and am looking for a new CPU which will be specifically used for gaming. Can anyone recommend a good one? Reviews with benchmarks included would be great. Price range is anything less than US$250 (or ZAR 2500). Thanks

Personally, id get the AMD 5000+ X2 Black edition. Easy to overclock, cheap, runs cool, uses little power, and is pretty fast.

I use one, and i love it.

Re: What CPU should I buy?

I agree with Hawman, AMD is cheaper, we can not compare between amd and intel, it is just your own style, what do you like? Intel or AMD?

DECENT:
AMD X2
INTEL Core 2 duo

Do we really need QUAD? how many things have we done that really requires QUAD?

Re: What CPU should I buy?

Well considering my motherboard is an AMD AM2, that would definitely be the option. I won't go for Intel because then I'd need an entire new motherboard and I'm not keen to do that entire shlep.

Re: What CPU should I buy?

How much RAM do you have? If you don't have 4 gigs I would suggest you get it, if you are going to get a GOOD cpu. Reason is that the CPU will be running fine but get bottle necked waiting for 1-2 gigs of ram to catch up.
