New to this, need help building pc!

Hi everyone,
i've been hovering around the techsupport forums for awhile now, trying to figure what are good parts for building my own pc. I've done abit of searching and this is what i came up with.

cpu- Intel core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz
motherboad -Gigabyte EP45-DS4P
grahpics - 1GB 4870 Gigabyte
memory - 4Gb Team Dark PC8500 DDR2
HD - Seagate SATA 500G
case - Thermaltake V9

My price range is about AU $1000-$1300.
I can get the things from the list for about AU$1180.
If anyone can give me their opinion on whether the parts are good and worth the cost, it would be much appreciated.
O i also know that sometimes theres compatibility issues with different parts but i'm not really good at telling the difference so if anyone can give me a heads up on that, that'll be great :D

And thanx in advance for any input.

Re: New to this, need help build system!

The MB, CPU, Video card are good not sure on the ram do you have a link to it?
What PSU are you planning on using?
For a HD4870 I would want a quality 750w unit.

Spend the extra money and get the E8500. You can easily oc it to 4.0.
