Ongoing Build Questions - Parts

Hey. What's up? It's been awhile since I last posted and I'm finally starting to order and get my parts in. I was going to check up and see what y'all though about what I have so far and maybe get some feedback if y'all feel different about some parts I'm going to order.

What I Have:

Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811124121

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128359

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115036

Extra fan: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999122

What I'm looking at getting, thus far:

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145194

CPU Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835186134

Graphic: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130339

HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136283

DVD x2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151171

Now then... if there's anything you know of close to price, I'm definitely interested. ...also, is IDE or SATA better for the DVD drives? I just ordered my processor, so I'm hoping to have this rig together by early summer. (college student :P )

Pretty nice looking rig!
Do you really need 2 DVD burners? If you do, then the samsung is a pretty good choice..

If you plan on overclocking, I would look into getting faster RAM, but the ones you plan on getting seem alright.

I'm surprised that there arent dual 12V rails on the PSU, but it should be fine for what you're building.

As far as IDE vs. SATA goes..those IDE cables are getting outdated, and they are a huge pain in the butt to put into a case. SATA cables look better, and allow better airflow. Speedwise, I would expect SATA to be equal, if not faster, to IDE. My advice would be to go with SATA.

Re: Ongoing Build Questions - Parts

Well, I like to copy/burn direct cds/dvds and so I usually like to just pop the original and the blank in at the same time and it just saves a little bit of hassle, ya know?

Okay, so, maybe something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231179 for the ram?

...and I hope so... the PSU is already sitting inside the case...it was my first part and I couldn't help but go ahead and see what it looked like installed. :P lol

But, this is my first build and so I'm just excited that it'll be done in a couple of months. Also, going from my laptop that has a 75 gig HD, a 5 ghz processor, and 1 gig of ram to...well, that desktop...ohhh yeah, one very happy college kid.

Scratch that... that's ddr3, my mobo only supports ddr2... so I dunno then.

Re: Ongoing Build Questions - Parts

I would move up to a 750TX Corsair for this particular rig and that video card if I was building this rig. You are just safer with more power and the price difference is minimal for that nice upgrade. When you talk about power $20 isn't much difference.

Re: Ongoing Build Questions - Parts

Yeah, I agree with you...however, since I already have it, not too much sense in rebuying it, but it'll be my first upgrade.

You can get faster RAM I am pretty sure if the 800 is the speed. You can get 1066 (I think it is 1066) it will be a little faster.
