Need help ! Need opinion on parts!

So my friend is giving me a good deal, apparently anyway and I'd love to know the opinion of the community.

X2 5000+ at 2.5ghz
3GB DDR2
500GB SATA HD
Nvidia 9600GSO

Those are specs, asking for opinions, I'm getting it for $600 dollars.
Also, I'm a gamer, so any advice toward a cheaper, more fairly priced or indifferent would be appreciated :)

Do some shopping around, you can buy that stuff brand new for less
than 600 bucks.

Do not install the ram in a 3gb configuration it will not be able to utilize dual channel.
Either 2gb or 4gb matched modules.

If it's 4 sticks it can 2 1G and 2 512's.
