First Time DIY Opinions Please

These are the parts I'm about to order. This machine will be used for a lot of video editing and an occasional game.

1. Super Multi Blu-ray Disc Burner & HD DVD-ROM Drive Model GGW-H20L from NEWEGG
2. Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders – OEM from NEWEGG
3. Cooler Master V8 Nickel Plated Copper Base Aluminum Fins 8 Heatpipes Core i7 1366 CPU Cooler from Amazon
4. ATI Radeon HD4870 X2 2GB DDR5 Dual DVI / TVO PCI-Express Graphics Card from NEWEGG

My budget is $2,000. The above items total just under $1,900.

Ya, dump the 4870 x2 for a 4870 and get more ram (you got Vista 64, why not use it) and another TB hard drive. Unless your gaming is more than just occasional. Video soaks up hard drive space like non other and sometimes it helps to have two different drives. Put your swap on the non windows drive.

4870 X2 is really overkill and waste unless you are going to run a 30 inch monitor ?


otherwise a single 4870 or GTX280 is MORE than plenty
