Is this a good idea?

Hello,
I recently posted an add on a local classified website selling both my laptop and desktop PC. You can see the info here and here. I got a buyer for the desktop PC for $400 and a buyer for the laptop for $280. I am looking to build a computer using the following hardware:

Motherboard ($129.99)
RAM ($76.99)
CPU ($254.99)
Hard Drive ($101.99)
Video Card ($158.99)
Total: $722.95
Current Computer Value: $680.00
Extra cash needed: $42.95

I know this may not be the best place to ask, but do you think I should go with selling my current PC and laptop for that PC? If so do you suggest any changes I should make to it?

Re: Is this a good idea?

you have the wrong memory listed ................ you listed DDR3 but your motherboard needs DDR2-800

I dont see a power supply listed ? look for Corsair 650 watt

for gaming I would look to a better video card even though you are budget minded, thats even more reason to be careful you dont buy something that cant get the job done ........... I would look to the 8800GTS / 9800GT / ATI 4850 any of those cards will game MUCH better and with authority

Personally I would look into the Intel E8500 instead of the Q6600 .......... not many games use quad core really yet; I have sold several E8500's to former Q6600 owners ..... the E8500 will hit 4.0 ghz on that board you have with a decent after market cpu cooler .............. thats gaming muscle

enjoy the research .............. thats a good portion of the fun also

Re: Is this a good idea?

ok well thanks for the information. I already have a nice power supply (I got it off of a buddy of mine because he just got a 1000w one, it is a 750w). Do you think that this would be a better choice on the graphics card? And thanks for the info on ram and cpu :)
