![]() Ok, I have just built my new computer. I purchased some goods separately, some from my old Dell. After connecting everything together and double checking, I turned on the power. The whole thing starts up, blue LEDs very nice yes, but nothing appeared on the screen. I left everything on for a while, and found that the RAM, CPU, GPU, northbridge, southbridge, CD drive (when connected, spins) and hard drives heat up. I read that if I only use one channel for RAM and use different slots it might help, but no. I also tried removing everything, popping the mobo on the non static plastic and trying it from there - but no. When I turn it on, all components start but the keyboard and mouse appears not to. Although when I turn on the PSU, the mouse momentarily lights up. My case is a Kandalf liquid cooling system with a OCZ hydroflow block. I thought that the backplate or a screw was making a short whilst in the case, so I removed it from the case and after lots of effort, managed to shove some non-conducting washers between the screw holes and backplate. Still nothing on the screen. I have connected the reset switch, power switch and power LED through the Q-connector, but no USBs or anything that is on top of the case to the mobo. Hope I didn't miss anything. Thanks for reading this essay, help would greatly be appreciated. |

Re: Built a new computer that won't boot up
Sorry I forgot
Intel E6400 @ stock, 2GB dual channel RAM@ 533MHz, Powercolor HD 4870 GPU, 250GB + 320GB HDDs, Asus P5Q Pro motherboard, Gigabyte Odin GT 800W And I can't really do any benchmarks, as the thing doesn't boot up ;) I'm currently using my old laptop. The liquid cooling system is built in to the case, and my old motherboard doesn't fit in it (thanks Dell). I can't fit the new motherboard, power supply or graphics card in my old case, so the best I can do is run it from outside the case. With this setup I placed my old heatsink on top of the CPU and put some fans next to it. Is this what you meant? |

Re: Built a new computer that won't boot up
Well that's a minor slip up. Thank you so much for that. I was thinking the RAM should be ok as long as I overclock it in the bios - lol.
Again, thank you! |

Re: Built a new computer that won't boot up
Not bench marks, bench test> How to Bench Test Your System
Try the Bench test(sounds like you may have already) using 1 stick of ram no drives, clear the CMOS and see if it will boot, just sitting the heat sink on won't work it needs to be tight |
