Component Order Which POST Goes Through? No POST/Video Problem.
Hi guys, quick question for you:
Just finished a new build, and I'm getting no beeps at post and no video output. I stripped my system down to 1 RAM, CPU, and CPU Fan.
The motherboard is fine. I just replaced it 2 times. Plus the fact that it beeps when there's no RAM in, makes me think it's fine as well. So is it: 1.) RAM – With the RAM installed i get no beeps. With no RAM i get beeps. 2.) CPU – It is producing some warmth. It gets mildly warm after powering on for 2 minutes. Could it still be defective? 3.) Power supply – The PSU fans remain on and it's running my case fans, my video card fans, and its blue light stay on. Could it be a faulty PSU? Or maybe the CPU? I heard if there's no beep then it might be a dead CPU What's the order that the post goes through? Is my CPU passing and the RAM defective? Mobo is Asus P5QL Pro, CPU is Intel Q9400, PSU is Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W, RAM is Mushkin 996587 Thanks in advance. Last edited by arh2o; 02-11-2009 at 09:45 AM. |

What video card?
Have you tried clearing the CMOS? If you have another PSU now is the time to try it. Do you have the board installed or on the bench? How to Bench Test Your System |

Re: Component Order Which POST Goes Through? No POST/Video Problem.
Don't have another PSU, but i'm gonna RMA it. Video card is Sapphire 4870 100259L.
However I can't even get a warning beep that my video card is not connected. I'm just running CPU, HSF, and 1 RAM. I can get the warning beep that I have no RAM installed. That's it. CPU fan spins, case fans spin, i'm almost positive motherboard is fine. Has to be either the PSU, RAM, CPU no? Guess I'll start the RMA with the PSU first. |

Re: Component Order Which POST Goes Through? No POST/Video Problem.
Noway would I risk that card by using a low quality Rosewill PSU look for one of these brands and models in at least 700w to power that card>
Brands and Models of Quality Power Supply Units Seasonic - any model Corsair - any model Thermaltake - "Toughpower" series only Coolermaster - "Real Power Pro" series only PC Power & Cooling - any model Silverstone - any model It could also be a short to the case do you have the board in the case or out? Have you cleared the cmos? |
