I need some opinions and suggestions........................

Alright guys here's the deal.... First off, I'm gonna be building my own machine. This is what I want out of it:
1. Be fast with multitasking......... I'm not talking about lightning fast but I like to burn DVD's and edit songs.
2. Be dependable (and upgradeable) not too expensive.

So basically I want a lean machine that can do some gaming. Not hardcore overclocking gaming but I would like to be able to play the newer games that come out. Ok now about brands. I personally have always believed that AMD had the best numbers(benchmarks). Also from what I researched thats what seems to be the case. I could be wrong so I want some input. Should I go with intel or amd board? I would like to have but not necessarily need an HDMI port and optical out. So here's a list of the part I'm thinking about getting keep in mind that this is my first time building one and its been long overdue. Be patient as I am a newb. Cheers.

Corsair 2GB (CM2X1024-6400C4-----comes in a pair) I have these sitting in a shoe box waiting.

I know how crucial the power supply is so any recommendations there would be appreciated also. Oh and suggestions on cases would be much appreciated too. Don't like the ones you have to open up to get to your dvd/cd rom drives. Not into the fancy lights and decorations on the case. I like simple yet aggressive. A sleek solid black color would be great. Thanks guys! (since its raining over here in San Diego).

AMD has been playing catch up since the P4 days> http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/d...x1050,818.html

Performance to price ratio is with the Intel E8500/ E8400 CPU, the Amd X2 6000 makes for a good low cost build but is in the shadows of the C2D Intel CPU's.

Wrench is correct. AMD is behind Intel, and it doesn't look as if they will catch up anytime soon.

AMD cpu's are cheap; but good quality boards like the 790FX are far from cheap ..........
