Help With First Build

The computer will be used for normal internet, a media centre and some older gaming and maybe some music software such as reason. I am unsure of what motherboard to go for, I would prefer the gigabyte, but another forum guy said

"The 780G CHIPSET is fine, but avoid the Gigabyte board because ONLY the latest revision of that board has full support for the whole range of AM2+ CPUs, You cannot gaurentee that EBuyer (or anyone else) has the latest revision. However, the ASUS supports all AMD2+ CPUs"

Does that mean that I should not get the gigabyte and why wouldnt it support my chosen CPU?? CANT I FIND OUT WEATHER IT WILL SUPPORT IT OR NOT??? is the asus any good i think the on board graphics on the gigabyte are better. I dont get it need help choosing this last componant!!?

Re: Help With First Build

I am sure the board has bios revisions to bring full support for any cpu on the gigabyte website for that board model ................... worst case you can use a lesser AM2 cpu to flash the bios .......... but I doubt very much you will need to !

Re: Help With First Build

The Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H Rev 1.0 board supports the X2 7750 CPU on Bios F6 how ever there are 3 revisions of the board Rev1.0, 1.1, 2.0 so see if you can find out which revision the board is the latest 2.0 will support it on the Bios FB release> http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...ProductID=2758

Re: Help With First Build

any retail outlet worth their salt will answer this question for you and prior to placing the order will verify which board you are getting ............... it not; you are buying from the wrong vendor !

Re: Help With First Build

The Asus boards have the same Bios update problem because the CPU is newer then the board.
