Are these components compatible?
Hello,
I am currently buidling a home server and using my knowledge i have already chosen my components but i need them double checking by an expert :) Will i have enough SATA leads for my hard drive? It says my motherboard has 2 cables but my powersupply only has 1. I don't understand this part. My dvd drive is IDE so i will only be using the 1 SATA space anyway. Will my motherboard fit in the case and also my PSU? The right RAM? Re: Are these components compatible?
The PSU is pure junk are you planning on leaving this system on 24/7 you need a good Power supply to do so.
Brands and Models of Quality Power Supply Units Seasonic - any model Corsair - any model Thermaltake - "Toughpower" series only Coolermaster - "Real Power Pro" series only PC Power & Cooling - any model Silverstone - any model You will also normally need a larger hard drive in a server what are you planing on using the server for? Movies/DVR files, Web pages, Data files?? You will also want the use 2 sticks of ram be 2 512's or 2 1Gig sticks for dual channel mode on the Ram. What OS are you planning on running? |
