Problems Attaching PSU to Motherboard
Hi there,
I'm currently installing my PSU and more to the point, the CPU power plug (8pin which splits into groups of 4pins). Now, I'm following linderman's bench testing guide first of all and have hit problems. I notice in the guide it says to use the 8 pin connector for a Quad Core processor, which mine is and only to use the 4 pin connector if I have a Dual Core. However, I have matched the PSU lead to the correct CPU power input on my motherboard and well...it appears only a 4-pin is available, although my motherboard's manual is adament that it supports a Quad Core processor. There are no other obvious connections on the motherboard and the manual for the motherboard is useless since it says nothing about CPU power. Below is a photo of my motherboard with the 8-pin/4-pin connection attached to it. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L iP35 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Core 2.5Ghz PSU: Corsair 750W CMPSU-750TXUK

Re: Problems Attaching PSU to Motherboard
It's ok if it need a 8 pin power plug it would have a 8 pin socket your board supports a Quad but the newer boards have a 8pin socket to remove some of the load off the circuits by doubling them. Not a concern.
