Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
generally speaking; graphic applications like photoshop and some other applications make good use of a quad core cpu ............ one of the very few actually
if you visual app can use quad then I would suggest getting the quad Q9650

you will have to spend some time to see if your apps really make good use and not just "compatible" use of the quad core .............. if not ....stick with the E8600

Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
I would suggest you grab the corsair 750-TX instead of the 650 they are almost the same money!

Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
Thanks.
Is 650W supply sufficient for my above build or should I purchase 1000W? I am planning to buy core contact freezer instead of coolermaster cooler. Is it necessary to purchase a RAM cooler separately? I am looking at OTC cooler but want to know if it is really required. Any comments? Last edited by anand_n; 02-08-2009 at 10:42 PM. |

Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
750 watt is plenty for your needs and gives you plenty of "head room and future expansion"
dont need a ram cooler ........... as long as you have at least 240mm's of case air flow .......... 2 @ 120mm case fans or 3 @ 80mm

Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
Thanks for the reply. I've ordered core contact freezer. I hope this cooler will be nice. I am also considering quad9650 but it depends upon the price.
(1) Can you recommend a latest motheboard from gigabyte for quad/core2duo processors? (2) Should I purchase single 1 TB or two 500 GB drives? My vendor suggested the second option. Is there any adbantage in it? Last edited by anand_n; 02-15-2009 at 05:54 AM. |

Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
two 500's is far more dependable
drives are not so reliable these days but they are cheaper ! losing a 1TB drive is no picnic / neither is backing it up ! as for motherboard ............. GA-EP45-DQ6 is my fav .......... but GA-EP45-UD3P is not slouch ........................GA-EP45-DS4P is another good choice ......... all will fit yoru bill put critical data on one 500 gig drive and keep the data backed up onto the other drive .............

Re: Suggestions required for my new PC
Thanks for the replies. Regarding graphics card, I am planning to purchase ZOTAC 9800 GT 512 MB or 1 GB. I think they are budget cards. Moreover, I am not a gamer and just want to improve the performance of Vista.
Is there are major difference in performance between 512 MB and 1 GB DDR3? Any comments? |
