Tired of my sick computer

Hello TSF

I'll introduce my computer and the history I share with it. I built my computer near the end of December 2008.

CPU: Intel E8400 Dual Core 3.00 ghz
GPU: EVGA 9800GT
4GB Ram
Newegg Customer Choice motherboard

--------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Bought all my parts and built it
2. BIOS would not detect HDD. Problem fixed by sending my internal HDD by RMA.
3. After installing my new HDD, I was installing Windows XP when my computer completely shut down. Isolated the problem and found out it was my graphics card's fault. Sent my graphics card by RMA.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
4. NEW PROBLEM
I got back graphics card back and was extremely excited. When I was in the middle of installing graphics drivers, my computer froze. I restarted my computer and reinstalled my drivers without any problems. I was installing some games when my computer froze again. So that's my first problem. My computer tends to freeze occasionally when I'm running applications.

There's another problem I 'm having. I installed Bioshock and when I booted it up, the graphics for the menu screen was crap. The settings were on max and I even tried lowering the settings. This did not do anything, however. I played Mass Effect and the game would crash, or it would skip framerates. On other occasions, the game would freeze my system, forcing me to restart my computer.

I really need help on this. Thanks in advance

Re: Tired of my sick computer

What power supply, wattage and brand? Is memory compatible with
the mobo?, What mobo and ram...
List all hardware specs, you may be under powered, or you ram may
be incompatible, or bad, run memtest, on ram one stick at a time.
Or you may be underpowered, and have a ram issue.

Re: Tired of my sick computer

The Ram is 2.2v do you have it set at 2.2 volts in the Bios?

While I'm not a big fan of OCZ PSU's it should power the card for a while at least but you might want to have a look at the voltages and the temps in the Bios after a restart.
