Ok, so I need a powersupply and a shell, that's it, I just don't know what kind of power supply to get and what kind of shell to get. I have a 80gig SATA HD, DVD-Burner and CD-Rom drive. I also have 2 extra 512 DDR2 ram cards.

What I'm looking for, as if anyone could make some suggestions to possibly make my computer just as efficient, and cheaper costs.

I am pretty sure everything above is compatible, not 100% sure. Never built a computer before, and I'm planning on haveing a person install the CPU for me.

Re: Need advice building computer.

Overpaying for older technology? Better and cheaper to get components from newegg. For example, you can get an E8400 from newegg for 165. Much faster, much larger cache........ blows away the E6400. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115037

Of course, it's your money, feel free to overpay.

Re: Need advice building computer.

That was a top of the line setup in 2007, but out dated for a new build now.

How good will this system be able to play games like Crysis, Battlefield 2 / 2042, Call of Duty 4, Farcry ect?

Is it the best I can get for ~800$? I'm not going any higher than 800.

Any reccomendations are welcomed, however I do expect reliable hardware, and everything I looked into seems pretty reliable.

Re: Need advice building computer.

On that motherboard, the guy said he had problems hooking his CD-ROMs up, can I buy coords like to make it longer?

Also, after reviewing this Wrench97, you are quite sure that all is compatable? IE, the CPU and Motherboard, there will be enough room for all those wires inside of that case(looks most likely that would be so from the reviews), and it will be a decent bang for my buck?

Re: Need advice building computer.

It all fits I've built several of that setup use Sata drives and not IDE drives, use the top external drive bay to neatly store any excess wires.

Couple of these with 90 degree ends helps> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812123171

Re: Need advice building computer.

Would you reccomend I purchase 3 of those?

I only have 1 harddrive(80gb, sata) and 2 cdroms, although I'm not sure if the cdroms are SATA as the comp is in storage -.-;

Re: Need advice building computer.

Pick up a Sata DVD drive> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135187

I normally use the cables that come with the MB for the Hard drive all depends where you mount the drives.

Re: Need advice building computer.

Well, I should be a little specific.
This is my first time building a computer, had crap for luck on E-Bay(bought a comp that was refurbished and got ripped off royally, for 200$)

I actually remember now, that the hard drive too was a IDE.

I was using a ASUS P5P800VM, crap.

So I'm pretty sure all the stuff in the computer besides the ram is obsolete.

Maybe I'll get lucky, I'm headed to storage tommorow.

Otherwise, I know I'm going to have to buy a new monitor along with most likely a HD.
