Roll Eyes Want to build computer for audio recording :)

Hey,
so after discovering that I cant do much with my current PC as far as upgrades, I'm thinking I might just build my own. Here's what I need:
a quad processor
tons of ram, something that's expandable to 10+ gigs
good and QUEIT cooling system
1tb hard drive
cd/dvd burner
many firewire/usb ports
internal sound card/video card doesn't matter

suggestions for motherboard/the rest of the stuff?
thanks you guys!

Why a Quad?
Why 10+ Gigs of Ram are you building a server?
Is there a Budget for this?

Re: Want to build computer for audio recording :)

Before you build this you should know that your going to have to upgrade your OS to Vista or linux based as XP doesnt support over 3gbRam.(Win7 would be my first choice when its rolled out)
Even though Multi Core CPU's are seen in XP, in my opinion they are very badly managed and run inefficiently

64bit Windows XP, Vista or Linux support up to 128 Gigi theoretically, 32 bit OS's only suopport 4Gig.
