HELP needed on building new comp

hey gus, my current computer just died and im planning to build a new one just wondered if i could get some help with my parts list

Mobo : Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L OR Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 OR Asus P5K PL1600

CPU: QUAD CORE Q8200 (Preference) OR CORE 2 DUO E8400 OR CORE 2 DUO E7300

RAM: 2x1gb Kingston DDR2 from current pc and hoping to add a 1x2gb stick aswell

PSU: Shaw 720 watt from current pc, will this be good enough/ enough?

HDDs: my current drives, a WD 80gb SATA and Seagate 250gb and an external Seagate Freeagent 320gb ( any1 know if its possible to make that internal?)

Optical: Current DVD drives, a Sony and LG drive but i want to add this Pioner 216 DVD burner

Graphics: im not sure, just need something that will let me watch high quality vidoes and stuff and possibly some light photoshop and video editing, gaming wise, not much of a gamer atm but wouldnt mind something that would let me play halo or gta everynow and again,

Case: Thermaltake V9 OR Thermaltake Armor+MX OR Antec 900 (with out PSU's but if recomneded i will use the supiled 1's)

OS: XP unless i can get my hands on some free vista :P

main bit of help i need is:
wether or not i will be able 2 use my 2x1gb ram as well as a 1x2gb stick with those motherboards and general compatibilty.

All parts must be from MSY (http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf) and rough budget is 800-900ish BUT THE CEHAPER THE BETTER ( ive definatly got 600 and should be able 2 queeze to about 800 soo the closer to 800 rather than 900 THE BETTER :D), so i dont mind cutting down on certain parts eg graphics but mainly want this comp 2 be a powerful multitasker want it to be as quick as possibe in tasks and not have to be ungraded /repaired frequently, REILIABILTY is needed (stupid crap old comp)

Thanks guys

Re: HELP needed on building new comp

Is your current CPU dead? What happened to the old unit that killed it? As far as the ram compatibility goes they need to be the same speed, and should be the same make. But if your only going XP all you'll need is the two gig stick, as your computer will only see 1/2 more than that.

I'd suggest going with the gigabyte P35 as ASUS is just saying to much, unless you like working hard on a system? That PSU I can't even google it, seeing as the PSU is the biggest most important peace of a build. I'd suggest buying another(you said your current one died right? Ever think that did it?). You can still do this build within budget and get a nice shinny new PSU as well. Your opticals and hard drives will switch over no problem, not sure on making the one internal. I'd also suggest getting Vista 64bit home basic, as all the new programs will need it. You then can run a dual boot, so as not to give up XP.
In conclusion, what is needed is a CPU,PSU,motherboard, mem, and case(maybe an OS=operating system(Vista). CPU good middle of the road core 2 E1400$50.00, PSU again middle of..$100.00(bigger is better), not sure on the MB price say $185.00, memory $50.00 max(DDR2 is on its way out). Were at $380.00 right now round it up to$400.00 still leaves room for a few upgrades and a nice fresh copy of Vista 64bit Home Basic($100.00). Oh and a case, that your problem(I'd use the old one if on a budget) its all personal to you though!
Enjoy, need more ask!

nonono the psu before that blew up and took the mobo with it. the shaw 720 watt PSU was what i got 2 replace it. i know the PSU is important but seeing as i have no knowlegde about it could you look at the PSU avible at this site and see wether any will do the job? http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

and the ram btw will all be kingston DDR2 800mhz. will i be able to hav 21gbs and a 1x2gb stick in the motherboard?
