Building a gaming rig ($1,000 - $1,750)

Hello,

It's been many years since I built a PC and I'm a bit out of the loop with today's components, so any advice offered would be greatly appreciated! Here's my questionnaire:

1. Budget: $1,000 to $1,750, perhaps a bit more if I can be persuaded. ;)

2. Brands: Thus far the only brand requirement I have is nVidia for the GPU, and my brother has recommended EVGA for the card manufacturer (any thoughts or other suggestions?)

3. Multitasking: No.

4. Gaming: My primary purpose for this machine. I'd like to run the most recent games at relatively high settings with no issues.

5. Calculations: No.

6. Overclocking: No.

7. Storage: I'm light on the storage department. I've been getting by fine with my current (outdated) machine with a HD of ~75 gigs. I'd say 85% of my personal storage is allocated to games, the rest for music, etc. I suppose I should upgrade slightly to something between 100 - 200 gigs.

8. Legacy Support: No.

9. Operating System: Vista.

10. Case: I would appreciate help choosing a case. Size is not an issue. Naturally I'm very concerned with proper cooling which will require plenty of space and strategic placement of the heatsink, etc.

11. Accessories: None needed, I'm only concerned with the machine and monitor.

12. Recycled Components: No.

13. Monitor: 1680 x 1050 preferred, possibly 1920 x 1200, and around 24". Brand recommendations would be appreciated as well.

14. Stores: My only preference is a site that deals in USD. I'll most likely go with newegg unless someone can recommend a better site.

15. Location: Vermont, USA.

Of course I'm also concerned with compatibility between the mobo, CPU, graphics card, power supply, etc so please keep this in mind if making a complete build suggestion.

Also, links that anyone can provide to newegg or similar sites would be very appreciated! I've noticed that newegg often has combo deals, so if any of those can be worked into my build without altering my specifications above or risking compatibility issues, that'd be great. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
