My Gaming Build

Hello techsupport community,

I would like to create my own gaming computer, but I'm not sure if the parts I bought are compatible with each other. Here are the list of parts:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131127
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.149639
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.146381
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.147174

In addition to compatibility issues, I would also like to gain more knowledge by having learning more about computers.

1) Is 900W enough power to power everything there?
2) Do I need to buy additional things to keep everything, or is the antec case enough?
3) Is there such a thing as a computer kit with special screw drivers, anti static for new computer builders?
4) can I use ati video cards on intel motherboards or are they only for amd?

Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward for some productive responses.

Re: My Gaming Build

900 is more then you need for that build. 650-700w would work fine.
That X58 board will support either ATI xfire or Nvidia SLI for 2 cards are you planning on using 2 cards? if so keep the 900w PSU.
The Antec 900 will hold everything.
The i7 and x58 are relatively new and over priced for the slight performance gain over the current E8500, P45 set ups in my opinion you are doubling the price for a 5-10% gain and limiting the potential with a 4850 instead of a 4870 video card.
I also would not recommend an inexperienced builder take on the new tech until it has been out for awhile there are Bois updates every week it seems, and the memory manufacturers have changed the memory several times in the last month.

Re: My Gaming Build

I echo the advice of Wrench ............. the X58 and I7 systems are grossly overpriced for such a modest increase in capability over systems which are 30-50% cheaper ....there isnt squat for software that needs these quads yet and there wont be any in time to justify the expense you will pay NOW

there are a ton of bugs to be worked out with these systems; even the semi pro review sites arent really able to get a "handle" on getting these systems tweaked yet ..... defintely not a good choice for a new builder or an owner which does not have the money to drop components and re-buy as the "solutions" are finally found.

Re: My Gaming Build

Why not all you have to do is find one to fit the new socket correctly most don't yet.

Re: My Gaming Build

I decided to go with your idea and use E8500
which p45 mother board should i get?
what kind of memory and power supply would you recommend to use with it?
Will my ati graphics card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121294 ) still work with the new board?

or is it better to go with an amd build because it's cheaper?
