Building a new computer
I am putting together a new pc and I really could use some solid advice and opinions.... Here is my thoughts so far.
I already have this video card: IceQ4- Radeon HD 4850 I am currently looking at these on newegg. AMD Phenom 9950 2.6GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor Model HD995ZXAGHBOX - $164.99 GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-DS4H AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - $138.99 Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM - $74.99 G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK - Retail - $54.99 Rosewill TU-155 II 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Retail - $64.99 Now my questions are will a 500w powersupply be enough to power this thing? Any suggestions on changing. Price is somewhat an issue BUT I can make changes, but if this is a good computer Id be happy. I will be running vista 64 Last edited by cboyle; 12-28-2008 at 08:26 PM. |

Re: Building a new computer
For a HD4850 I would expect at least a 650w quality unit to keep heat issues down and last a long time.
