Upgrading $600 budget

Hi,

I would like to upgrade some parts in my computer by getting a new processor, graphics card, memory, and possibly a mother board, power supply and a fan.

I would like to spend around $600 and I like buying from neweggg.com and prefer AMD. I am from the states and will be using my computer for gaming.

I currently have a AMD athlon 64 X2 5000, geforce 7950 GX2, 650 watt pwer supply, 1GB DDR2 (x2), 250 GB SATA 3G hard drive, and a FOXCONN NFORCE 590 motherboard with a 2.0B Chassis (Aurora model from alienware) .

thanks,

P.S I am also looking to buy a new monitor with a budget of $500. ranging from 25 inch-28 inch

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

Are you saying that you want to spend $500 for a 25" or 28".

A 25" monitor would cost around $200 or more. Then you only have $400 to buy everything else.

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

I am saying my budget is around $1000 for everything $1100 max. I am willing to spend $500 on a monitor and $600 on parts.

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

What power supply brand and model do you currently have?
AMD vs Intel is a hot topic just so your aware the Intel cpu's are hands down faster have a look here if you still want to go AMD that's fine we'll put together a AMD rig

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

thanks so much for all your help! I really like those parts,

After doing some research the only thing I would like to add to the system you recommended is the capability to run triple monitors sometimes, while at the same time be able to combine the power of two graphics cards to get one powerful image when I only am using one screen. What kind of powerful dual video cards will allow for that setup.

and P.S do you think I should add a cooler to my system

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

In order to link two cards you need to use ATI cards on this motherboard or a Nvidia board to SLI 2 Nvidia cards I don't recommend it the cost of the 2 cards and the larger power supply just are not worth the 10-20% Gain same goes for the third monitor to add another 9800GTX your going to need to move to a 850w PSU.
There is no way to do it on a $600 budget.
What are you intending to use the third monitor for?

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

the second and third monitor will be used to have a really large view for games such as flight simulator and racing games. But for other games I only like one monitor, thats why I sometimes want to be able to combine the power of both graphics cards for one good image. How about something like this in place of the graphics card u recommend. It adds $150 but I can handle the price.

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

For an x2 card I would use this> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139009

I never had much luck with GSkill memory.

The P5Q E is a good board I used a couple before the UD3 series came out.

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

I haven't used it years but dead sticks to sticks that die and trying to return it was a pain.
I use either the crucial above or corsair on P35/P45 boards

Re: Upgrading $600 budget

Add this to your list I'm not sure the xigmatek cooler comes with a thermal paste
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100007

Also I'm very interested in what you think of the 4850x2 when you get it up and running I haven't used one yet but considered it for one I've got in the works.
