Need help for motherboard and cpu upgrade

I decided to upgrade my motherboard and CPU to these, im planning on grabbing 2 2g DDR kingston sticks also.

http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskto...il.aspx?id=400
AMD Phenom X4 9550 2.2GHz Quad-Core

http://top-logix.com/products/detail...AM2:1083914034
ASUS M2N-E SAM2 nF570 Ultra 3PCI 2PCI-E PCI-E16X DC-DDR2 SATA-II RAID 10-USB GB-LAN 8CH-Aud

I skimmed through some topics here and it looks like upgrading just 2 things can cause problems, now I myself would rather try and avoid them before I buy them. So im checking if the mobo and the cpu will work good together. Now what im just keeping in the tower itself would be the video card and hard drive.

Also is it recommend to change the case and power supply? or could I reuse them?. Well thanks for the help in advan

Re: Need help for motherboard and cpu upgrade

What case do have now?
The M2N nvidia 570 while supporting the Phenom do not have the faster HT the Phemon is capable of like the M3 series with the newer chip sets.
You picked a Nvidia chip set are you planing to SLI? if not I would look at the AMD/ATI chip sets.

BTW the links aren't working

Are you sure you want AMD over Intel?

Re: Need help for motherboard and cpu upgrade

Eh my case is a normal cheap black one I guess not exactly sure. Honestly I just went to the site and picked a CPU and motherboard that looked good and has a decent price. If you could recommend me 2 that would be great. My current CPU is AMD so I thought I would just stick with them, but if Intel is currently better for the price sure ill go with them.

I think I should also post my other specs also if they change what I should get.
video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS looked up my PSU and its ATX-350PN from Sparkle power inc.
+3.3V and +5V total output not exceed 130W
+12V1 and +12V2 total output not exceed 300W
+3.3V & +5V & +12V1 & +12V2 total output not exceed 335W
Total output for this subject power supply is 350W
just took those off the site.

Re: Need help for motherboard and cpu upgrade

What kind of budget do have for this?
As long as you have a standard ATX and not a branded case like a Dell or a HP it will work.
Where are you shopping looks like Canada?
If you want a gaming rig Intel is the way to go at the moment but for a general pc and moderate gaming AMD can be more cost effective.

Re: Need help for motherboard and cpu upgrade

You will have to do a repair install which keeps your files and data structure just removes the mb drivers and resets the HAL.DLL. The sticky part is if it's an OEM license then it will fail validation if you have a full retail license it's not a issue.
