CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115200 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813188039 PSU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153055 Graphics: X 3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102768 Memory: X 2 (12 GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145222 Hard drives: 1 X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136033 1 X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136260 Drives: 1 X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136145 1 X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151171 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119138 Total of 4538,88 $ My questions: Is the power supplu sufficient for all 3 of the video cards + Cpu + all the other stuff? What system will support 12 GB ram? will the memory put in all of the 6 slots work ok? Is the case big enough? What else would you recomend to buy/change? Thanks for all the help! |

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
Answers:
PSU - Yes, Yes, and Yes System - Vista 64bit. Unlike 32bit (3gb accepted), it should accept all of it. Memory - shouldn't have a problem Case - should be big enough Suggestions - Well, you have a nice setup there. I guess the only thing I would change is the hard drives. Instead of 2 10,000rpm drives, why not 1 500gb 7200rpm SATA for a lot less money, and take that savings to pay for faster shipping? Edit: The two you have listed only have 16mb cache, get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319 with 32mb cache. I doubt 4ms difference is going to be all that noticeable. Also, take a look at the brand Lian-Li for computer cases. I have one, and it's made very nicely. They are a little pricey, but you won't be disappointed.

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
Don't know the difference in power draw, but nVidia says that psu will power 3 GTX 280's, so I would assume if the Radeons are similar draw it should work. I don't use ATi so wasn't sure where to look. I went here:

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
A computer this powerful, I wouldn't overclock. It doesn't need it.
The case fans should do the trick. If you are insecure, look into getting an aftermarket Zalman CPU cooler with some Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound. Then, for the hard drive, as long as there is a fan in front of the drive bay like mine, you should be fine. Because the ram you have selected have heatsinks already, the case fans should keep them nice and cool. As for the OS, that's all up to you. Do some research and look to see which one you like best. I have ultimate, only because it has all the bells and whistles, that even if I don't use, I know they are there when/if I want to use them. I hear a lot of people go with Home Premium because it offers enough.

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
why the evga board? just curious
i would go with this ram, lower cas latency OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit - $179.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227365 about the hdd's, is that one raptor and a velciraptor or just either/or? if size doesn't matter much and you really goin for speed hdd wise i would go with a coupe of these in raid0 Patriot PE64GS25SSDR 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - $179.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220342 or these Patriot PE128GS25SSDR 2.5" 128GB SATA II Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - $339.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220343 how will you be cooling the cpu? i could recommand this http://www.swiftech.com/products/H20...PEX-ULTIMA.asp your hdd's should be fine cooling wise, with ssd's anyway but the case has very good cooling features

Why evega? hmm... I've heard alot of people complaining about Asus, and not single complain about evega, besides it's cheaper and well-designed, the only thing is it's 12gb maximum ram supportet, but who the hell would need more than that? lol

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
i see
what you gonna be using this for? also, to answer another one of your question you asked in the beginning about the case size. the case is pretty big. even for a regular tower it's big. 24.5 inches tall to be exact. you will have plenty of space inside. i don't think you will ever use the 12gb of ram, even 6 would be enough for the vast majority.

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
they have a compact version but it only comes with mounting plates for am2 and 775. the apex, at least when you order it from swiftech directly, comes with a mounting bracket for the 1366.
if you haven't done water cooling before i might could become a challenge but once you have it all together it will be well worth it. swiftech makes it quiet easy by fitting everything together and you will have everything but distilled water that you need to get the job done. all you need is a couple of screw drivers. this case is actually prepared for water cooling and has two rubber grommets in the back where the hose go through. well, maybe later. so what do you have in mind for cooling? and yea, 6gb is plenty for gaming. save the money and consider the ssd's - IMO

Re: Building Extreme Gaming Pc For 4500+ !!!!!
i wouldn't see it that clear. with everything fully loaded and overclocked you will defenitally peak the psu but i think it should handle it.
appx 250-300w per card = 750-900w 130w tdp cpu, maybe 150-180w oc'd and loaded 50w mobo oc'd 25w 2 hdd's 45w fans comes out to 1000 - 1150w cutting it close but there are not much bigger psu's out either
