Bench testing the new system.. no output from GPU

I have the MoBo on the MoBo box with the GPU hanging off the edge. It's sitting on top of the anti static bag also. When I power on, the CPU fan spins, everything seems to power up fine, I even get a POST beep, but after a couple seconds, the GPU fan stops spinning and I have no video output at any point. The monitor just says check cable. I have tried both ports for the dvi-d cable and still nothing. When I power the system off, the GPU fan kicks on for just a second. Any ideas?
