O/S and Driver Update Procedure

I just built a new system from scratch, my first attempt. The assembly went well and there were no errors during the POST (power on system test). I presume that the next step is too install the O/S (operating system), Win XP Pro, in this case, and then update the drivers using the manufacturer websites or CDs provided. During Win XP installation, do I need to install the SATA drivers for my HDD (press F6)? If so, how is this done as I have no floppy drive and the drivers would be on CD? BTW, I have no way to slipstream a CD as my current functional PC has no burner.

System Build:
Foxconn Destroyer Motherboard; Phenom 9850 "Black Edition CPU @ 2.5 GHz; 92mm Zalman copper CPU Cooler; 2MB Corsair DDR2 RAM @ 800 MHz; 160 GB Seagate SATA-II HDD; LG SATA DVD Burner. XFX 9800 GTX+ GPU (not installed, yet).

Re: O/S and Driver Update Procedure

Most newer BIOS allow an Alternate method for SATA . . Go into the bios and check the "Sata Operation" setting, change it to "Raid Autodetect/ATA if it is not already. Now try to install XP ( Verbage will vary by manufacturer )

Otherwise, floppy drives are dirt cheap . .

I find it odd that the installation of drivers is still dependent on legacy (floppy) drives. You'd think you could specify a CD/DVD or USB drive instead.

Re: O/S and Driver Update Procedure

You would think so . . but so far no dice

There are alternate methods . . the one I posted and slipstreaming the SATA drivers are the most popular
