How's This Rig??
Ok, most of this has been purchased (just need to get the HDD), I was just curious what you guys thought of it, and what minor upgrades you would recommend. I'm not rich, but any recommendations for future upgrades for this rig I would like.
Motherboard Case CPU PSU Video Card RAM Now I know I can add another 4GB of RAM to this thing, but I'm not sure if all my stuff is Windows Vista 64bit compatible so I'm using 32bit. Is there a tool out there that can check compatibility of stuff like that? Also, I'm looking at this HDD: I mean, it's the second biggest HDD I could find and has a 32MB cache versus the 16MB one. How does the rig look? Any inconsistencies or things I missed? In particular, I'm looking at the Video Card and RAM. I think I can use better RAM than what I have but I'm not sure, and I know the video card can be upgraded. Are there any upgrades for either of these you people could recommend that aren't super expensive? |

Re: How's This Rig??
9800 is a lot bigger than the 8600
9800GT Dimensions: 4.38" Height x 8.38" Length 8600 Dimensions L (Inches) 6.9 Inches Dimensions W (Inches) 4.367 - 4.376 Inches the video cards are usually always the same width nowadays they just get wider my GTX 260 is 10.5 inches long, its a beast! but comparing 9800 against a 8600 is like comparing a Lamborghini to a Ford echo. I have the Antec 900 case too and any video card will fit in it Last edited by Mcninjaguy; 12-22-2008 at 03:59 AM. |

Re: How's This Rig??
Get a better processor If you should have the MOB and the CPU on the same level of performance in my opinion, in my opinion you should downgrade your MOB a bit and get a better AMD processor possibly a quad if you got the dough.
Stick with the cooler master 650w that Linderman recommended you, I got it and no problems so far. |

Re: How's This Rig??
can save a bit on the case if you buy it here: http://www.provantage.com/cooler-mas...p~7COOL023.htm
I ordered 3 from that website. You should not have a problem getting the video cards in. Last edited by cami; 12-22-2008 at 12:41 PM. |
