Check my build :D

So its christmas time! Time to get a new computer. Here are the parts:

HDD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148134

Video
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102801

PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703009

RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122

Mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121314

CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115037

Im not looking to spend any more than $1000. If I can get the price down more that would be great, but I want at least 2.8 GHz. The mobo im sketchy about, but I think it will be fine. What do you think?

It looks good, I personally don't like ATI cards, but everyone has there opinion.

Perhaps you should consider waiting a little longer to get more money and buy i7

Re: Check my build :D

yeah, I would have preferred a 9800GX2 but newegg doesnt sell them anymore. The i7s are insanely expensive... I dont think I want to spend that much on a CPU. Im already over budget by $100 since I need a new monitor too. The mobo checks out then? It looks pretty... non-gaming oriented but I dont know anything about mobos so I thought I'd ask.

Re: Check my build :D

How about this MB very good board > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128359

The 9800GX2 were about the same speed as the GX260 and cost more to produce.
Check around these bench marks pay close attention to the screen resolution and quality settings pick the resolution you plan to use to compare the results

Good choice on the PSU excellent unit.

Re: Check my build :D

Hmm, I think ill get that board. DDR2 1066 isnt that much more than DDR2 800. As for the PSU, I was thinking of getting this one instead to save some money and bring it to under $1000

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817152035

Will 630W be enough or is it smarter to spring for the 750W PSU? Espically with upgrades to consider a couple years from now.

Re: Check my build :D

DDR2 800 is all you need to get a 1333FSB to overrun 800 you would have to clock the to near 4ghz

You don't want that PSU especially with a HD4870 they are power hungry and that psu is low quality

So I can use DDR2 800 with that mobo even though the memory standard is DDR2 1066? I'll get the 750 watt PSU than, if the Raidmax is low quality

EDIT: The deal on the PC Power and Cooling unit ends today. Im not buying today, and $250 for the PSU in acceptable. Any other brands you recommend?

750Tx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

Yes the listed memory standard is the highest you use on the board.

Try this for ram> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145184

Re: Check my build :D

Thanks, I'll get that PSU.

I think I'll stay with the G. SKill sticks though, I can get 2x2GB of DDR2 1066 for the same price as the Corsair and G. Skill seems to be rated very well.

Re: Check my build :D

The CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail is a monster...it is excellent...but you will need a case that provides space to tuck away the wires that you will not be using.

I have that power supply in my rig...It is more than I need...but I don't regret it.

Re: Check my build :D

Awesome, now I just need to know if it would be better to buy after christmas or the new year? The price dropped from $1,045 to $889 after black friday and I know it will go down more

Re: Check my build :D

thats a good drop I dont expect to see more ...... many of the manuf are losing money as they are now ........ they will cut production and make the supply lesser which will yeild steady if not slightly higer prices
