Need Help in New Computer Build
Hello TSF. I have a laptop right now, but I have had so many problems getting it fixed from compUSA and them sending it back just to break again a month later that I have decided to build a new system. Thank you in advanced for your help.
Budget: How much money are you willing to spend on the new build? Around $600-$700, but I am going to purchase on Black Friday, so it is probably equivalent of a $1000 build at the moment. Brands: Are there any brands of components you want or don't want? I would prefer Intel and ATI, mainly because ATI in my opinion has the price-to-performance ratio for the higher end cards, like the 4870. Multitasking: Will you be multitasking with this computer and if so, how much? I will proably have up to 4-5 programs running at once. Gaming: Will you be gaming and if so, how much and how new are the games? This computer will be used mostly for games. I would like it to play Crysis on viewable settings and Mass Effect. Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or media encoding? Probably not. Overclocking: Do you plan on overclocking and if so, how much? If needed to avoid an upgrade, possibly. Storage: How much storage will you need and what will you be storing? I like to have a good amount of music and videos on my hard drive, so I will need a good amount of storage. Legacy Support: Will you need support for older hardware like parallel, serial, or PS/2 devices? I have a USB mouse and the G11/G15 keyboard, and I do not believe that the keyboard requires PS/2 support. Operating System: Do you want Windows XP or Vista, or Linux compatibility? Vista Case: Do you want help selecting a case and if so, how big do you want it? I have a case picked out Accessories: Do you want a keyboard, mouse, or other items included? I need advice on whether to get the G11 or G15 keyboard. I play MMOs and FPS games mostly. Recycled Components: Will you be reusing any components you already have? No Monitor: If you want a monitor, what size do you want and should it be widescreen? I would prefer a widescreen monitor, but it can only be 19" max. Stores: Do you have any online stores that you prefer to purchase from? Newegg Location: What country do you live in? United States Also, I have picked out parts that I think are good. Can you guys help me out and make sure that I didn't pick out bad parts? Only thing that I didn't pick out was the keyboard and monitor. I would prefer to use it, as I paid for it, and have not used it yet, but I don't want my computer to blow up. Re: Need Help in New Computer Build
Leave the BFG in the closet or sell it on Ebay
The Corsair is a much better unit. Take a look at the Gigabyte GA EP45 DQ6 it's a great board. And keep an eye on the E8500 the price keeps getting closer to the E8400. |
