[SOLVED] Upgrading old computer
Well i am going to upgrade my old computer, but im going to wait till christmas to get some things on sale.
Currently I have a p5gd1-vm Mobo Pentium 4 640 3.0ghz (prescott) Cpu 1.5ghz pc3200 ddr ram Im upgraing it to do a bit of gaming, I know the cpu and ram are slow, but im getting a 8800gt or 9600gt and a Antec 650w TP3. The extra bit of $$ i have, i am going to buy a new Mobo and ram That i can use my pentium 4 with (until i upgrade the cpu), but im not sure if the ram is compatible. from these Mobo's: http://avalonsoftware.com/viewproduct.asp?pid=4383 http://avalonsoftware.com/viewproduct.asp?pid=4314 http://avalonsoftware.com/viewproduct.asp?pid=4317 and this ram http://avalonsoftware.com/viewproduct.asp?pid=4361 http://avalonsoftware.com/viewproduct.asp?pid=4134 I only can buy at this store or futureshop (not a big selection of computer parts) Thanks. |

Re: Upgrading old computer
Your kind of between a rock and a hard place here the newer boards(P4x series) don't support a P4 Ideally for gaming you should look for a P35 chipset board in Asus or Gigabyte
But of the boards you've selected I'd go with the Asus P5KPL-CM And the Corsair sticks. |

Re: [SOLVED] Upgrading old computer
Well, i might not even buy a new video card or psu, and just buy a mobo, ram and an Intel Core 2 Duo 8400 (replace my 6750 in newer comp with an 8400, than put 6750 in the one im upgrading)
.
