I know its been a while Ive been busy the last few months. Here are my favorite parts for my build and Im considering purchasing them sometime this month.
CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103272 MOB: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128090 Case: Rosewill R223-P-BK 120mm Fan ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147109 PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Power Supply - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008 RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122 optical drive: LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106228 HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136075 I think the total cost comes out to about $339 with $60 bucks to spare with my proposed $400 (I could use a prettier case). Remember this is not a gaming or anything special just and average computer that can crap all over the desktops at Best Buy you see for around $700 with 1gig of RAM running windows vista. |

Re: science fair
Yeah the video card on the motherboard is pretty nice its a ATI Radeon HD 3200 which is cool because it supports HDMI. It also saves me quite a bit of money from buying a separate video card of similar stature.
Right now Im still leaning toward the case I got. One more thing will the 400w be enough for the power supply? |

Re: science fair
Nah I've never been much of a gamer on a computer, I might however interchange the optical drive for a blu-ray down the road and use this computer as a media center, and there is a possibility of me getting a video card but not for gaming.
I decided to go with MD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor - Retail at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103233 instead of the one I posted earlier due to its higher cashe, I also picked out a heatsink for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103031 |

Re: science fair
Yeah 750w is pobably to much, If you guys say that the 400w psu will suffice then I think I'll go with it, besides its a great deal and perfect for my PC.
I picked out a budget lcd moniter for and some stereo equipment, I already got an nice rocket fish mouse and keyboard I was using for linux on my PS3. Also can I use the blue-tooth from the USB adapter for the keyboard and mouse for other devices? LCD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824254018 Stereo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836116030 Im sure they'll work fine just I want to double check if you guys have heard anything strange about these products. |

Re: science fair
There is a huge difference between 2.0 speakers and 2.1, might want to think about that. Little more expensive, but I have a set of these T3100's from Creative and they are great. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836116024

Re: science fair
I took a look at those speakers I still dont know about them sense I'm planning on hooking this up to my tv and receiver so surround sound is already taken care of.
As for the power supply I just now noticed they jacked the price up on the power supply I was looking at buying (sorry for not noticing) so now Im going to do the mail in rabate and get 650w cooler master for $49. And I also decided to downgrade my processor and mob a bit mob: Foxconn A7GM-S AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail I'm sure these to will work just fine I just want double check. |
