Gaming upgrade "parts help"

budget = $1000

can i do any better than
Q6600
G. Skill PI DDR2 1000
ASUS 4870 X2
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

in cart - http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=15743993ci2.jpg

im going to keep the 700w power supply im currently using which is a
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002
along with keeping my 500gb / 250gb drives and the random dvdrw drive

few other random questions

is the 700w enough?
once i get all the parts is it basically plug and play "along with a fresh windows install/reformat"?
how long is that card and will it fit in this mid tower case " here"?

Re: Gaming upgrade "parts help"

whoahhhhhhhhhh

your headed for the rocks captain! the OCZ 700 watt is not going to pull the 4870 X2 for long ...... if at all

that video card should be powered by Thermaltake toughpower 850 watt at the bare minimum ....... bet yet ......... toughpower 1000 watt or Corsair HX-1000 watt

go to mwave.com / click on refurbished / click power supplies there is a hellva deal on the toughpower 1200

I highly doubt the 4870 X2 will fit in your case >>>>>> unless you mod & remove your hard drive cages usually get in the way of the tail of the video card!

I also highly doubt you have a legit need for the 4870 X2 it really doesnt show its muscle until you get into the above 24 inch monitor class and resolutions of 1900 x 1200............ you into that ?????????? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ their real brag point is 30 inch monitor

you would be FAR better served with

corsair 750-TX or toughpower 750 watt
E8500 cpu will show a big improvement over the Q6600 (E8600 is purrrrrrfect)
youre OCZ 700 "might" pull the single 4870 "if" your case cooling is excellent & noisey from high RPM case fans ????????????????

you can shop for a high class motherboard in the refurb section and save $75.00 rather easily!

just like the toughpower 650 watt in there for $70.00 ! that too would pull a single 4870 .......... those are built better than the OCZ 700

food for thought !!!!!
