Hard Drive Swap

I would like to swap out my old Motherboard, CPU, and Ram but still keep my two 500GB hard drives. One of them is partitioned with the OS on one partition and programs on the other half. The other drive is mostly games and files. What steps should i take to make the swap go smoothly? Both drives are SATA.

Re: Hard Drive Swap

I think you will have to reinstall Windows XP as it will not load the correct drivers for your new Hardware. XP does not like "looking" for new hardware.
I would make sure you have backed up all your data first.

Re: Hard Drive Swap

you will need to "repair" your windows OS

here is how

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XP...install.htm#RI

once the "repair" has been completed ............ it will remove all drivers from the windows system withouth messing with your programs or data ........ upon re-boot you will need to reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers and all other device drivers ....... you should get these drivers onto a CD before you perform the repair install ........ otherwise your internet connection wont work until it has drivers ?
