Question PC System transplant PSU Problem (Help)

Hi everyone,

Totally new to this site... so bare with me looks cool tho!

Right, this may seem like a really strange thing to do but what the hell, hope someone can help.

I have wanted for some time to build a media PC, for my living room mainly just for Movies TV and watching HD stuff through my HDTV.
However due to many things (mainly cost!) i cannot go out and buy all the components i need.

So i had an idea i have at the moment 2 pcs, one which is about 2 - 3 years old just your standard 3.0ghz intel with 256mb graphics and 500gb HDD with 2gb ram. The other is my brand new Quad core Intel Q6700 PC with the beautiful NZXT Hush case (in black).

Anyway, my older pc at the moment is not being used because it will not switch on.. i'm pretty sure its the PSU thats not working. Anyway my idea is to basically transplant that system minus the PSU into a new case with a new PSU... Only problem is that because the pc is a bit old it uses IDE and AGP (Not SATA and PCIE) which is more standard now. So my problem is - can i transplant the system into the new case even tho all the PSU's i've seen all have SATA connections...

This is the old pc link

And this is the link to the case i would like to get

I hope someone here can help...

Thanks anyway,

Re: PC System transplant PSU Problem (Help)

If the new motherboard has all the IDE slots you need for the older stuff, then it should work for you with the exception of the AGP card. Most newer motherboards use pci-e, and I would not recommend getting a board with AGP that did not have this upgraded pci-e feature. If you don't have the cash for a newer video card, then sell your old stuff on Ebay and purchase a decent (low end, low price) video card and throw it in there until you get the bread to purchase something upgraded in this area.
