Need New Rig help, 1st custom build
Hi, i am trying to find parts for a new rig that i want to build from scratch. I need to know what parts would be good for a custom rig for around $1,300. I play WoW so i want it to be smooth with full settings. I dont play many other pc games. I do need keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, and sound card. Any suggestions on parts from Tigerdirect or Newegg within my budget? i am willing to go over some dollarz! Thanks.

Re: Need New Rig help, 1st custom build
Many of the parts you posted are low quality or somewhat outdated.
This system is considerably faster, and will run all current games and is somewhat excessive for WoW imo. You could upgrade the video to an 4870, but that was pushing your budget a little. The onboard sound on this motherboard will be very comparable to the soundcard you posted, upgrading the sound would not be worth it unless you were getting an xtreme gamer card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131299 --P5Q Pro=$135-15 rebate get the combo with the e8500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115036 --e8500 =$190 get the combo with the motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 --corsair 750=$120-20 rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148212 --4gbmemory=$96-40 rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161235 --4850 =$165-30 rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136153 --dvd drive = $27 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136073 --500gb HD=$70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119137 --case = $75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116488 --Vista 64=$100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824254035 -- monitor=$170 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0&sku=L23-7288 -- mouse/keyboard =$80 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836121014 -- speakers=20$ Total: $1248 Rebates:-140Also includes combo savings Final: $1108 not including shipping and possible tax. Re: Need New Rig help, 1st custom build
The Combo is on the E8400 and the P5Q Pro
By use an Intel MB do you mean an Intel chip set(which the P5Q has) or an actual Intel MB? And if your looking for an Intel MB of course the answer is yes. But I feel you get more features with a Asus or Gigabyte board using the P35, P43, P45 Intel chip sets. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121351 |

Re: Need New Rig help, 1st custom build
Why the Q6600 2.4Gig over the E8500 3.3Gig?
Look at the numbers between the Q6600 and the E8400 and remember the E8500 is faster http://www.techspot.com/review/100-i...00/page10.html What part number is the memory all you have listed is the marketing specs. |

Re: Need New Rig help, 1st custom build
Yes that ram will work with the board if your not going for a radical overclock it's kind of overkill though. The E8400/E8500 will not overrun DDR2 800 even at mild oc's> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148212

Re: Need New Rig help, 1st custom build
What sucks?? the way it works DDR= Double Data Rate 800> rams runs at 400 doubled = 800 dual channel means two pipe lines @800Mhz to the memory controller the Cpu's run a single channel @ 1330Mhz to the controller you would have to jack the CPU FSB way up to reach a speed faster then the controller can communicate the Ram.
