Looking for New Build Advice/Help?

Hey. I have an old Dell Dimension 4300 that is not really worth upgrading, so I want to get some info on building a new one. Here are the answers to the basics:
Budget: Up to $1000 or so?

Brands: I am not partial to any specific brands. I don't have a lot of knowledge here.

Multitasking: Yes. Personal and Business use.

Gaming: Yes. Quite a bit. Newer games.

Calculations: Not quite sure what this means, but I would like to know more.

Overclocking: Is it safe to without damaging the system or hardware?

Storage: Music, Video, Documents for work.

Legacy Support: No.

Operating System: Windows XP, but is Vista better?

Case: Yes. I have no idea what size though.

Accessories: No.

Recycled Components: None.

Monitor: No.

Stores: None that I prefer.

Location: USA

Like I said, I don't have much experience with this, so I could definiately use the help. Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Looking for New Build Advice/Help?

Just normal business use. MS Office mainly. I have the software for Office 07 and XP Prof. I may want to do some photo/video editing down the road.

Re: Looking for New Build Advice/Help?

since you have XP pro 2gig of ram should be all you need if your not doing intense image or video editing with the newer Adobe CS3/4 software then a faster dual core is better for gaming and standard office apps won't barely use the second core. So have a look over this you may want to change the case out to meet your taste/style or add a card reader?

Re: Looking for New Build Advice/Help?

This looks great! I appreciate the help. 2 more questions:

1- What other parts will I need to put this all together?

2- Is it difficult to assemble?

Re: Looking for New Build Advice/Help?

That's all there is the cables for the drives come with the motherboard, It's not hard to assemble you'll need a couple of screwdrivers and maybe a magnifying glass to read the small print on the motherboard. See this for an idea of how to do it. > http://techreport.com/articles.x/13671
