Re: me new build, rate it?
oh and by the way, i think you should go with dual core the quads get to over heated and are hard to manage. (my buddy has one) you will almost never need one, and if your only using 4 gb of ddr2 ram its not really necissary. but all in all its up to you.

Re: me new build, rate it?
Well, if I have applications opened in the background (anti virus, web browsers, aim, etc) won't I need a quad core? The Arctic Cooler is supposed to be an amazing heatsink. However, let me know what you guys think!

Re: me new build, rate it?
If you have browsers aim, etc open in the back ground they will use and hurt you on memory usage but not CPU usage If You know anybody with a quad have them run task manager "Always on top" while playing how many cores have any significant usage?
Intel on the next gen chip is developing a technology to shut down unused cores and let one core of the quad run faster>> it's still all about clock speed given all the rest is equal. The Arctic Freezer Pro is a good cooler for the price it cools better then stock and is quieter. |

Re: me new build, rate it?
hey man i personally run a 9300 and dont over clock it (because it is a laptop) it is one below the extreme, which i highly recomend for tower pcs, the extreme is easy to overclock and it stays cool. its a great processor.
P.S make shure ur duo is a centrino not a pentium 4... |

Re: me new build, rate it?
I built a machine with that case, the case looks cool, has alot of
fans, "But" The power supply is mounted at the bottom of the case. What is right above the power supply? The video card. It gets real hot in that area, never could figure out what antec was thinking with that. This is just my overview, and my opinion....

Re: me new build, rate it?
The build I did with the case had a 1200watt psu, there was a fan
on the bottom of the psu, there is only about 1/2 inch clearance to draw air in,not enough room imo, there was a exhaust fan on the back of the psu. But the heat from the top of the psu was rising up, right up under the video card/cards. It got real hot, the gpu fans have no chance of cooling anything because of the heat rising from the psu...Heat rises....To each there own, I just dont like it, not a big fan of all that heat right under the video card/s. Did try to turn the psu upside down, didnt help much, and the wires coming from the psu were all twisted and it was a giant cluster. If someone brings me a box of parts, and says put it together without my input, I will do it, even though I know there could be problems. That build the guy had his heart set on that case, he saw a you-tube video and he thought it was cool, it may look cool but it sure doesnt run cool,,,lol ![]() You may have a better shot with the antec 1200, same design, but alot bigger, keeping the psu from the gpu, but you still have the same problem with heat rising... I really like the thermaltake armor, I think its the 6000, biggest case Ive ever seen, but a real sweet case, almost toolless install.

Re: me new build, rate it?
I did put the PSU in upside down in one, but it still gets hot and to add to the problem the guy puts it on the carpeted floor in a corner with all the wires/cables and the router dropped down behind it. and says it seems to run hot

Re: me new build, rate it?
Lol, I know the type,,
The build Ive been referencing, the guy says the machine is running to hot. Imagine if you will. The antec 900case, evga sli 790iultra super duper mobo, buggy pos, 2 evga 280 video cards, 1200watt psu, cant remember the brand, but does real well. pci sound card cant remember the type creative, bout $300.00 card. Cram all of that in that case, its tough. I hid as much as I could but still all of those wires, the psu is big as well, took about a hour to try and hide all of the wire. Thing weighed about 50lbs. If you turned it on its side, within 5 minutes you could fry a egg. Been running like that for about 3 months suprises me. Just to much crammed in a tight space, and the psu keeping everything toasty. He really likes the case, I told him to spring for the antec 1200, same thing but alot bigger. Just a matter of time it will be back here, then I charge again. Hate to do it, but hey I warned him. He needs to dump that mobo to. Gawd what a nightmare, but that is another story,,,,,

Re: me new build, rate it?
Had no problems with the upside down mounting of the psu in my 1200. So much room behind the motherboard tray, that I ran almost all my wires there. Haven't had any heat problems at all.
