Re: Mid-Range Gaming PC
Ummm...that's not exactly mid-range. You're definately in the high range :)
Drop the Q9300 processor. Games will not use 4 cores of your processor for a lonnnng time. They're just beginning to use 2 cores. Get an e8500, which is 660mhz faster in each of its two cores, and much cheaper. Also, the Killer network card you have on your list is a total waste of money unless you are downloading stuff almost 24/7. That "less lag + smoother gameplay" applies to when you are downloading huge files while you're playing games. The same $200+ is better used for a new graphics card down the road. Drop the Raptor their not worth the extra money for the small performance gain over the Sata Perpendicular drives, > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148335
You don't need that nic card you never use it's capabilities on a home/campus network. |

Re: Mid-Range Gaming PC
Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I will be switching CPU, Mobo, Hard Drive and Power Supply. Im wondering on that MB link you suggested which motherboard would you go? Also with the killer networking card I play WoW and CSS in a military barracks on 5mb internet and its horrible so I need as low of a latency/ping as possible but I may rethink it. Also should I just go with 2gb of ram if im going to run 32bit?

Re: Mid-Range Gaming PC
Internet connection speed = 5mbs onboard nic = 100mbs an add on card is not going to improve the ping rate which has more to do with modem/router and your ISP's server.
One of these two they are both good, If you never want to crossfire then look at a P45 chipset like a P5Q Pro |

Re: Mid-Range Gaming PC
Yes that would make it hard to get the numbers, The best course of action when you get home is to check your connection speeds and maybe bypass the router and check the speed, it may or may not show a difference. then If necessary we kind find out what Charter requires in a modem and go from there.
